Piano, guitar, wind and reed instruments... he has a
knack with them all. But it's his singing style and
"sax appeal" that command an audience's attention.
Alex' falsetto quips in answer to Johnny
Guitar's call-and-response guitar is a BNBB tradition.
And his rich voice and style are perfectly matched to
blues, whether he's crooning a West Coast Swing number
or belting out a Texas shuffle.
Now teamed with Nelson Lavernia
on the band's horn arrangements, Alex got his start
listening to jazz greats Charlie Parker, Dexter Gordon
and John Coltrane. Today this native Tucsonan is one
of blues' most popular sax players.
A superb front man with down-home friendliness and wit,
Alex is co-founder of the Bad News Blues Band. In 2000
Alex was awarded the TAMMIE (Tucson area music awards)
for Horn Player of the Year.
